Colt has traveled all over the world and has incorporated these experiences in his original music. His early years as a performer consisted of being a lead singer in a soul band in the Phillipines and Okinawa. When his family moved to Denver, Colorado, he experienced the influence of blue grass and country music. Not content with vocals alone, C.W. learned to play the guitar, banjo and fiddle. However, his music became so popular, friends began to call him "Banjo Billy". Under this name he opened and peformed with major artists such as Chet Atkins, Waylon Jennings, Jimmy Buffet, Bo Diddley, Edgar Winter , Alvin Lee and Roy Clark and many others
