The GEORGE FAWVER Band has been performing for enthusiastic audiences in east Tennessee since 1992. With a w-i-d-e variety of music styles in their repertoire, they play for corporate events, wedding receptions, reunions, fund raisers, etc. Call, email, or write for a demo tape/cd and/or other specifics.
Present and former clients include: East Tennessee Ballroom Dance Club, Oak Ridge 50th Birthday Celebration, College Square Mall, Regal Cinemas, Swing Fest, NBC Bank, Knoxville High School Class of 1947, Dancing on the Porch, military and school class reunions, wedding receptions, and various others.
GEORGE FAWVER, the leader, plays synthesizer and writes most of the band's arrangements. He has played with many jazz quartets, big bands, shows, circuses, etc. He is President of The Knoxville Musicians Association, Local 546 AFM.
NANCY REYNOLDS is the vivacious female singer. She trained in Voice at the University of Tennessee where she performed in "La Traviata" and "Dialogues of the Carmelites" with the UT Opera Company, and sang in the UT Choir. Nancy is equally impressive singing jazz, ballads, or Latin. She also performs with Rococo Band.
TOM PAYNE plays trumpet and flugel horn as well as being the male vocalist. Tom has a relaxed delivery that really gets your attention. He has had his own group, Night Shift, and performs with many local groups including the Ray Brooks big band, the Sierras, and Soul Sanction.
KIM KASTEN is also featured on trumpet. Kim is adept at hitting those high notes. He began playing with the Oak Ridge High School Band. He went on to the University of Tennessee Band and now plays with Boys Night Out and The Little Big Band. He has Masters Degrees in both German and Library Sciences.
JEFF MIZE is the trombone player. He was an "All State" trombonist in high school and studied with Don Hough at the University of Tennessee where he attended on a band scholarship. Jeff served as principal trombonist for the Oak Ridge Symphony and is "on call" for the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. In real life he is a civil engineer with Wilbur Smith Associates (Knoxville office).
ED ROBERTS plays piano and is also an accomplished bass player. He began studying percussion while in junior high school.He studied music theory, composition, and improv at the University of Tennessee. Ed is a member of Slow Blind Hill, The Cavaliers, various small groups, and has recorded with Michael Davis [HEROS].
MARK AKERS has a vast amount of experience in several genres. Mark plays bass - and has performed with many local bands.He is also well known as a live sound engineer and producer.
TERRY ROZZELL, who played with the band when we first began, has returned as drummer! He is probably the most verstile rhythm player in this area. Well known and extremely talented, Terry recently retired as a high school band director.
